  • Memos include: date, subject line, thesis statement, introduction, body, and conclusion. Memos typically do not have cc and bcc.

  • Emails tend to be less formal and sometimes conversational, often beginning with a greeting and ending with a signature.
  • Memos use formal language with a professional tone and adhere to a neatly structured format.

4. Message Features

  • Emails contain short paragraphs, bullet points, and flexible formatting for easier reading.
  • Memos can include headings and columns to emphasize key information.

5. Closing and Signature

  • Emails typically end with a closing statement and a signature, sometimes with a quote or the sender’s contact details for the recipient.
  • Memos end after the last paragraph of their message, and may include an executive’s signature to reinforce authority for the message in the letter.

7. When to Use These Messages
